School Sports Premium Report
Here at Hamble Primary School we are devoted to providing our children with the best opportunities in physical activity!
Future Funding Arrangements
We are aware of the forthcoming changes to PE and Sport funding and understand that the current Sports Premium funding model is expected to be replaced by a new approach to school budgeting and funding allocation.
As details continue to emerge, schools across the country are awaiting further guidance regarding how these changes will impact the planning, delivery and reporting of PE, physical activity and school sport provision.
We remain committed to providing high-quality PE and sporting opportunities for all pupils. We will continue to review our provision and adapt our approach as necessary to ensure the best outcomes for our children.
Further information regarding any changes to funding arrangements and how these may affect our school's provision will be shared with parents, carers and stakeholders as soon as official guidance becomes available.
School Sport Funding
Currently, the PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality of PE, physical activity and sport for all pupils.
Our aim is to develop confident, active and healthy children by providing high-quality PE lessons, increased opportunities for physical activity, competitive sport and staff development.

How we use the funding
The funding supports:
- Specialist PE coaching (in addition to class teacher taught lessons)
- Teacher professional development opportunities (Whole staff Fundamental Movement Skills, LSA training in Sensory Circuits, the qualification of Mrs Knight training to be a swimming teacher and Miss Churcher's qualification in Primary Education Sports Specialism)
- Extra-curricular sports clubs opportunities
- Sports equipment and resources
- Participation in local competitions, travel and equipment
- Active playtimes and physical activity
- Additional swimming provision
- Physical Education inspirational speakers (to contribute and raise the profile of PE and how they have developed a life-long physical literacy)

Swimming Data 2025-26 (cohort of 55)
| Measure | Percentage |
|---|---|
| Year 6 pupils able to swim 25 metres: | 85.45% |
| Year 6 pupils able to use a range of strokes effectively: | 85.45% |
| Year 6 pupils able to perform safe self-rescue: | 98.18% |
The children in this Year 6 cohort completed their core six-week swimming programme during Year 4 in 2024. To further support pupils in meeting the National Curriculum swimming requirements, an additional swimming crash course was provided in May 2026. A total of 27 pupils attended this intervention which is considerably higher than in previous years. This increase reflects the significant changes within the cohort, with 17 pupils joining the year group after the original Year 4 swimming programme had taken place. The additional provision enabled these pupils, alongside others requiring further support, to develop their swimming competence, confidence and water safety skills.
