HOT OFF THE PRESS:-

Thank you to Class 5 for a fantastic assembly reminding us all about the qualities of friendship.  How lovely to see they had included so many of the Olympic values.

CLASS ASSEMBLIES

Our next class assembly is:-

Reception Badgers and Squirrels – Friday 25 May at 9.00 am.

RETURN THOSE SLIPS!

Many thanks to those of you who have returned the Student Support Centre slips.  If you have not returned yours please do so as soon as possible as we need more to ensure we raise the funds for our theatre visitors.

RAMP BUMPS!

Recently there has been a spate of early morning injuries on the ramps in the recreation ground, culminating this week in two Year 6 boys having to go home injured before their maths SATs.  I am concerned that as the ramps are unsupervised, children on their own may sustain a serious injury with no adult around responsible for their safety.

SWIMMING

All classes have started their swimming lessons.  This is a regular timetabled activity.  Occasionally it may be cancelled at the last moment.  This is because we monitor the chlorine concentration very carefully; on hot days evaporation can cause it to be too strong, on wet days it can be too weak!  Hopefully your child will not miss any sessions but if they do we hope you will understand why we were not able to give you any notice of this.

CLASS PHOTOS

The school photographer will be here on Thursday 24 May to take class photographs of the children.  Children should wear their school uniform of either a sweatshirt or cardigan, and grey trousers/skirt.  We have also organised a whole school photograph on Monday 18 June.  The last time we did this was in 2005.

TORCH RELAY

This morning our Olympic torch was carried from the Lifeboat Station in Hamble to the school and then in triumph around the grounds.  The Mayor of Eastleigh carried it on the final offsite leg before handing it to our Infants.  This was an excellent start to our Olympic topic.  We are very grateful to Mr Smithwick for lending us two real Olympic torches (Moscow 1980, Seoul 1988) for our assembly yesterday.  It was fabulous for the children not only to see but be able to touch such important memorabilia.

IT’S GOOD TO WALK!

Next week is Walk to School Week.  Every day that your child walks some or all of the way to school they will receive a sticker for their record card.  Your child should bring the card in daily to be completed.  I hope you will be able to take part in this road safety initiative.
